PROJECT SCOPE:
Overview: Make a low budget/no budget music video for a non profit organization, in frenetic time when the musicians are on break in the recording studio laying down the actual music track this video will support.
- Discover, Conform, & Intercut Historical Video Footage from the Internet Archive org
- Generate Video & Graphics Package via After Effects
- Intercut Current 2020 Protest Still Photos & Video with Text Animations
PROCESS & PROCEDURE:
Photo collateral comes from the 2020 Protests. Illustrations come from former Black Panther graphic artist. Old video, dated material, historical figures, events, & marches comes via the Internet Archive. All other footage generated in house. After effects template included features like camera shake, gritty scans on alpha, a TV futz loop overlay the graphics of current “protests” intercut with iconic Columbia River Gorge backdrops, in studio performances, and a stroll-down-memory-lane opening montage create a throughline connecting past & present civil rights troubles.
ACCOLADES:
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine’s came across the work and gave high praise on social media giving an unexpected boost in viewer engagement.
